Long time no blog!!

It's been a while, huh? I finally have enough time that I've decided I'm going to start blogging regularly again from now on! The year is almost to an end, which marks the two year anniversary for Dressing Up In Daisies...isn't that insane??  Anyway, I hope everyone had wonderful holidays and has been doing well! I'm going to start off by talking about my top 3 favorite things that I got for Christmas this year!

1. My biggest present was my new baby: a Canon Rebel T3!! This is going to bring a tremendous amount of good to my blog. Say goodbye to my awful quality mirror pics in my style diaries...and hellooo to amazing new pictures!:)

2. I now own my first pair of sunglasses that are over $12! These Rayban Clubmasters are soo cute and give off that effortless vibe that I love.

3. Okay, this is literally my dream eyeshadow palette. It has basically every color I could ever imagine or want. I feel like now that I own this I'm never going to use any other eyeshadow but the ones from this Urban Decay palette!!

Black Friday shopping at Urban Outfitters!:)

Yesterday I got up bright and early because Urban Outfitters was having a 50% off all sale merchandise sale!!! Here are my six purchases that I got for only $80 total!:)

This tank is plain black on the front, and then pink lace on the back! It used to be $30, but I got it for $5!

This is basically my dream sweater because I've wanted an oversized, plain white sweater for ages! It used to be $50, but I got it for $15!!

These are waaay cuter in person, I swear. I love them because they are 70's inspired leopard-y print palazzo pants, and they went from being $40 (I think) to $10!

I didn't really think I would like this red lacey/crochet button up, but I tried it on and decided I really liked it! It went from being $40 to $15! The sunglasses I also got, but they weren't on sale.

This is probably my favorite thing that I got yesterday! It used to be $54, and I got it for only $20!

Did any of you go Black Friday shopping??  Comment below!

New obsession: ear cuffs!!

I've wanted an ear cuff after seeing them pop up a few times recently on my tumblr feed. Especially when I saw one today on urbanoutfitters.com, I considered that my final sign. They look so adorable and come in all different designs and metals! My favorite cuffs are the ones that have a chain that connect to an earring like the two above!! The best part about ear cuffs is that they just slide right onto your ear, so no commitment to a piercing is required! I ordered a simple silver ear cuff and the one in the third picture on amazon today and can't wait until they get here!!

The pants that keep me up at night.

A few months ago I made the tragic mistake of experiencing my first Free People store when I was on vacation up in Santa Barbara. Instantly, I was surrounded by all the free-spirited, 60's/70's inspired clothing that my hippie at heart self could ever possibly imagine. I picked up an adorable sweater and some flared jeans, but what my eye REALLY caught on were the pants that the groovy girl working in this new-found dreamland was wearing. They were insane bell-bottomed floral print rayon pants that only cool girls like her could ever dream of pulling off. For some reason, at the time, I wasn't totally convinced I was one of the cool girls that could pull them off, so I left the store without the pants that would unfortunately haunt me for the next several months.

I won't lie to you-the pants did eventually slip my memory between last April and now, but as I found myself back on State Street once again on Friday, it was like a spark went off and I fell in love all over again. I tried them on and they were perfect and I got that terrible OMG I HAVE TO HAVE THEM NOW feeling that I tend to get when I'm out shopping. Unfortunately, they were $100 and I had already blown through almost twice that amount on other more inferior clothing items. After much negotiating and selling my first painting ever (yee!:)) I somehow rallied up $100 out of nowhere. Of course, by the time I got the money I was far away from SB and my dream pants just so happened to sellout online. Of course.

And so I find myself needing to get some shut eye before waking up tomorrow morning to travel 45 minutes to the nearest Free People to see if they carry the pants that, in my mind, are going to complete my whole freaking life.

Summer's coming...bring on the bandeaus!

Urban Outfitters

Victoria's Secret

Topshop, Forever 21, Target

Finally, finally, the summer months are approaching and stores have begun getting in their big selection of swimsuits! I've found that right about now is the best time to stock up on new swimwear, because by June all of the reject swimsuits will be left behind from when all the smart girls snatched up the cute ones in the spring! So get your butt over to places like Forever 21, Urban Outfitters, Victoria's Secret, H&M, and (surprisingly!) Target for some of the cheapest but cutest swimsuits!

In years past I have always rejected the idea of bandeau swimsuits. I've formerly based my opinion by looking at dreadful pictures of celebrities at the beach with their bandeau top practically down to their belly button. I've always thought these bathingsuits were so unflattering, that is, until I saw more and more girls wearing them this year!

It seems the "bandeau" style has really become the next big thing in the swimsuit department! They're so fun and cute, and really show off your neckline and collarbone. I've come to the realization that they're actually quite flattering- you just have to make sure the top isn't too big or too small! I love when girls wear them under loose tank tops on summer days to the beach, because they look so adorable! I'd love to know what you guys think of bandeau swimsuits! Leave comments below!:)

Fashion For a Cause!

Did you know that it's estimated that over one million people are currently living with HIV in the USA, and over half a million people in the USA have died after developing AIDS? Well, H&M is doing their part to take a stand and raise awareness about HIV prevention among youth! For their fourth consecutive year, H&M and Designers Against Aids(DAA) have partnered up and created a unisex collection that 25% of the sales go to HIV/AIDS prevention projects for youth such as DAA, Youth Aids, UNFPA, and MTV Staying Alive Foundation! This year's FAA collection is ultra-modern, wearable, sporty, and above all, bright and optimistic! I think that it is so amazing that a giant store such as H&M would contribute in such a big way!! And by purchasing some (or all!) of the pieces in this collection at one of the selected carrying stores, you can do your part too! Click here (http://tinyurl.com/43uqyrf) to browse the entire collection!!

'Cause we make the hipsters fall in love, when we got our hot pants on and up.

FINALLY the sun is out, the weather is heating up, and summer is just around the corner, which can only mean one thing: you can finally start breaking out your summer essentials and wearing swimsuits, shorts, and crop tops again!! YAYY!
Lately, I have grown more and more obsessed with short high-waisted shorts. All the little hipsters run around and party in them on tumblr, and it has inspired me to get myself a couple pairs. I have found that most of the cutest high-waisted shorts are located at Urban Outfitters(see above). Cheaper, bigger chains such as Forever 21 and H&M haven't quite caught on to the trend yet, making cool vintage stores and UO pretty much the only places you can find them. I actually see this as a really good thing because it would be a shame for everyone and their mother to start looking like hipster wannabes...
Anyway, go to urbanoutfitters.com for the most ADORABLE shorts you've ever seen. Lillian got me the first ripped up pair above for my birthday after they were on backorder for seriously like three months. They're vintage cut-off 501's...I mean really, how sick is that??? I also recently got the navy and red pair above too, and I think I've fallen in love. UO seems to be getting in newer, cuter shorts every couple of weeks so be sure to snag them up before summer really hits and they're all sold out!

Urban Outfitters is getting graphic! (t-shirts, that is..)

There's nothing that is as quite as effortless and modern as an amazing graphic tee. I'll admit it: t-shirts aren't (and frankly never have been) my kind of thing. A lot of time they come across too casual or plain for my taste... But, with every generalization, there are always exceptions:).

And my "exceptions" may just be the incredible bunch of fun, artsy, and modern tee shirts that they're selling at Urban Outfitters at the moment. Urban Outfitters has such cute clothes that they can even make me-yes, me- fall in love with the idea of a t-shirt.

T-shirts like the ones above look great with jeans, shorts, skirts, and even leggings if the shirt is long enough. T-shirts are so comfy and cute, and make you look adorable without having to try. Can I say, effortless at its finest?

The genius that creates outside-of-the-box standout-yet-still-wearable-clothing, Marc Jacobs, even said, “I like the sort of 'nothingness' of the jeans and the T-shirt. I feel that's about as close as I can get to the future because it seems like something so old that will always be, so I feel it's a safe bet for the future.” T-shirts are modern, and always will be. Good quality Urban Outfitters ones will last you a while, and they run at about only $25-40!!! Go check them out: http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/category.jsp?popId=WOMENS&navAction=poppushpush&isSortBy=true&navCount=288&pushId=W_TOPS&id=W_APP_TEES_GRAPHIC

New shoes:)

As I mentioned in a previous post, I was on an intense mission to find some pink pumps to go with my dress for my sweethearts dance. Well...that just wasn't happening. You'd be surprised as to how hard it is to find some classic pink barbie heels!

I went to Macy's, DSW, Nordstrom, and basically every place that carries a wide variety of shoes within a fifteen mile radius, and just experienced fail after fail after fail. Right when I was about to completely give up, I spotted a Marshall's. My mom was like Well, maybe we should just try it. And I was just like Ehh..

After some debate, I found myself in the shoe section of Marshall's staring at some insanely cheap Betsey Johnson, Guess, Coach, and Steve Madden shoes. The grungy interior of the store completely disappeared as I laid eyes on the shoes I have admired for years: the Steve Madden glitter pumps. Of course, the only pair left was a 6 1/2...exactly my size. They were a gift straight from heaven, and as I slipped them on my feet, I knew they would go even more perfectly with my dress than pink pumps EVER would.

And the best was yet to come. As I looked down at the price tag, I suffered from a mini-heart attack. Twenty five dollars.... Good Lord. Seriously??

There is truly nothing that makes me happier than an experience like this. :)

About me

I started Dressing Up In Daisies about two years ago for the purpose of unloading all my thoughts, ideas, and obsessions on to internet, rather than keeping them all bottled up in my head. In my first post on DUID ever, my (at the time) thirteen year old self said, “Fashion is about taking risks, and dressing up for yourself, and no one else. Ever since I was two years old, my favorite game to play has been dress up...and it still is. The amazing thing about this game is that you get to play it every single morning, so why not have some fun with it? Wear some massive heels, opt for the leopard coat, throw some daisies in your hair. Whatever your mood is that day.” Ever since I can remember I’ve been fascinated by and obsessed with the world of fashion and all things artistic. I’m not really at all like most kids my age. I spend my days blogging, painting, sketching, taking pictures with old film cameras, and dreaming about my future as a fashion icon strutting around New York City.

Here’s a little bit about me(my description on tumblr): Audrey. 15 years old. Pisces. From San Diegoo. Hippie at heart. Wasting half my time blogging, and the other half at school. Aspiring fashion designer. Full time freak. Soon to be starving artist. ♥ I love: 500 days of summer, fashion, new york city, red nails, good vibes, andy warhol, incense, chanel, men's sweaters, hippies, painting, fur coats, marc jacobs daisy perfume, urban outfitters, the 70's, ziggy stardust, people who dance to the beat of their own drum, rock n' roll music, my canon rebel and my diana f+, steven tyler's sexy ass, the summer of 1969, sublime, my two best friends, woodstock documentaries, lady gaga, saturday mornings, black and white pictures, cold winter days, bike rides in the summertime, combat boots, and tumblr ♥ Dreams: ride a unicorn, go to Parsons for college, create the biggest fashion house in the world, ride a segway, see the aurora borealis, float through space listening to david bowie records, always remain true to myself, live in a shitty apartment and eat top ramen in New York with my best friend Lillian when we turn 18, and not fail my next history test...

I use my blog to connect me to the world of fashion that I know I’ll be a part of one day. And the best part about this is that you guys can be a part of my journey as I chase my dreams of becoming a part of this industry that I feel so passionately about. Feel free to give me feedback in the comment section, hit me up on tumblr, or inbox me because I love hearing from you guys!! xoxo, Audrey
