It's really a shame. All winter long I have tried to ignore the over-the-knee trend because I simply thought that my 14 year old self wouldn't be able to pull them off. But, as much as I've tried to ignore them and their alluring boldness, it's no secret that over-the-knee boots were the front running boots for the fall/winter season. They even beat out wellies, combat boots, ankle boots, and virtually any other style that has been the top trend in the past. Over-the-knees were filling the runways of every brand from Chloe to Prada and taking over the closets of fashionistas around the world.
So the question is, why weren't they taking over my closet too? Well, the main reason was that I had never tried a pair on.
When I was out shopping a few weeks ago, I found myself in DSW with practically a whole aisle of OTK's staring me down. Okay, fine. If they were going to be THAT in my face about it I guess it's worth a shot. I slid on the black leather Steve Madden boots with much less trouble than I had expected considering they didn't have a zipper...looked in the mirror...and fell in love.
I've always had the mindset that the shoes really make the girl, so I've found that there's something very powerful about what a pair over-the-knees does for a girl. OTK's give you SO many outfit options! They go with jeans, leggings, dresses, and skirts, and you can dress them up or dress them down. I would literally wear them every single day if I could. I also love the way that over-the-knees are daring and make a statement. I've always said go bold or go home...and isn't that what fashion is all about anyway??
So with the last couple months of winter left, take advantage of the cold weather and get yourself some over-the-knees pronto!
xoxo, Audrey
