Over-the-knee boots trend

It's really a shame. All winter long I have tried to ignore the over-the-knee trend because I simply thought that my 14 year old self wouldn't be able to pull them off. But, as much as I've tried to ignore them and their alluring boldness, it's no secret that over-the-knee boots were the front running boots for the fall/winter season. They even beat out wellies, combat boots, ankle boots, and virtually any other style that has been the top trend in the past. Over-the-knees were filling the runways of every brand from Chloe to Prada and taking over the closets of fashionistas around the world.

So the question is, why weren't they taking over my closet too? Well, the main reason was that I had never tried a pair on.

When I was out shopping a few weeks ago, I found myself in DSW with practically a whole aisle of OTK's staring me down. Okay, fine. If they were going to be THAT in my face about it I guess it's worth a shot. I slid on the black leather Steve Madden boots with much less trouble than I had expected considering they didn't have a zipper...looked in the mirror...and fell in love.

I've always had the mindset that the shoes really make the girl, so I've found that there's something very powerful about what a pair over-the-knees does for a girl. OTK's give you SO many outfit options! They go with jeans, leggings, dresses, and skirts, and you can dress them up or dress them down. I would literally wear them every single day if I could. I also love the way that over-the-knees are daring and make a statement. I've always said go bold or go home...and isn't that what fashion is all about anyway??

So with the last couple months of winter left, take advantage of the cold weather and get yourself some over-the-knees pronto!

Obsessing over oxfords!

I love how popular oxfords are for fall!! They're so cute and come in all sorts of fun colors and patterns, and are made by so many different brands. I put together some really adorable ones that I found above in all different price ranges. (And just a side note-although none are featured above, Steve Madden also makes some really fantastic oxfords.) Nothing is cuter than a skirt and tights on a chilly fall day paired with some oxfords, but you can also work them with pants, shorts, etc! I recently bought some black ones with a pointy toe that I've only gotten a chance to wear once so far, but I've already fallen in love with them!

Nicole Fox: Post America's Next Top Model-What She's Up to Now!

Last season on America's Next Top Model Cycle 13 they had only models 5'7" and under competing. I was rooting for the same girl throughout the whole competition, Nicole Fox. She was so much more high-fashion and unique than all of the other girls, and because of this, she won! As I was browsing on Steve Madden.com just now, and I was looking at their ads and suprise, suprise! Guess who's in all of their Spring advertisements? Nicole! Yay, and congrats to her!

My Current Obsession-oxfords!!

So, the other day I was just casually strolling through the Steve Madden store when these ( http://www.stevemadden.com/item.aspx?id=49820&path=|womens%20shoes|womens%20oxfords| ) caught my eye. I tried them on in white and fell instantly in love. It was one of those moments where it's not even an option to walk out of the store without them...so then I found myself in an awful situation. I had already blown all my money at H&M. I had to leave the store without them. Crap.

Buuuut...

I'm still determined to get them and I know someday soon they will be mine :). Oxfords are just SO cute for spring with little short dresses and skirts! I can't wait until I have a pair of my own!

About me

I started Dressing Up In Daisies about four years ago for the purpose of sharing my opinions, ideas, and personal style on the internet, rather than keeping them bottled up in my head. In my first post on Dressing Up In Daisies, my then thirteen year old self said, “Fashion is about taking risks, and dressing up for yourself, and no one else. Ever since I was two years old, my favorite game to play has been dress up...and it still is. The amazing thing about this game is that you get to play it every single morning, so why not have some fun with it? Wear some massive heels, opt for the leopard coat, throw some daisies in your hair. Whatever your mood is that day.”

This statement is something I continue to stand by, and will for the rest of my existence. I believe it is important to show the world that fashion should celebrate the beauty in risk-taking and oddities, which vastly transcends the limitations of "trends" and other rules often imposed by members of the fashion industry.

I use my blog to connect to the world of fashion that I know I’ll be a part of one day. Feel free to leave comments with feedback, or click the "contact" link above to email me.
