A fascination with Terry Richardson

Terry Richardson is an American photographer that is most well known for his provocative and sexual photographs of models, celebrities, fashion, and even himself. He is famous for his risk-taking advertisements, editorial photographs, and fashion photographs. There's something so eye-catching and different about his work that sets him apart from other photographers of today's time. The images that he produces are so raw, and he has this unexplainable ability to bring out a side that is so weird and outrageous in his subjects. I love that whenever I see one of his pictures, I instantly know "Oh, that's a Terry."

He recently collaborated with ultimate artist herself, Lady Gaga. You know that when you pair up two creative geniuses like them, you are bound for spectacular perfection. The last two pictures above are from their book, Lady Gaga X Terry Richardson, and as you can see, Terry catches this rare "behind-the-scenes" side of Gaga that the public hasn't seen before. Shock-value is something that is experimented with by both of them, and it is clearly present in the work they have done together. I need to get over to Barnes & Noble soon to get this!!

"Fashion is the armour to survive the reality of everyday life."-Bill Cunningham New York

I recently spent my Saturday afternoon watching a beautifully captivating documentary about Bill Cunningham, an 82-year-old street fashion photographer for The New York Times.  Prior to viewing this documentary, I had never heard of Bill or any of his amazing work, but after watching this I was disappointed that I had never even heard of this extraordinary man.  Anna Wintour, goddess of the fashion industry, mentioned in a featured interview, "We all get dressed for Bill." This shows the widespread importance and influence that Bill has over the entire fashion industry.

I fell in love Bill Cunningham's inspiring soul as the series of his daily events unfolded on my television screen.  He doesn't care about celebrities, fame, or even social hierarchy; and that's what sets him apart from paparazzi.  All that Bill cares about is the clothes; he is strictly fascinated by fashion.  What I am most in love with about him though, is that he isn't into this 21st century idea of fake, artificial, and cookie-cutter "fashion" that so many people claim to be a part of. He isn't interested in "celebrities and their free dresses", he is purely interested in the excitement and individuality of people who aren't afraid to stand out and make a statement through what they're wearing.  I admire a person that is completely and passionately devoted to what they do with their life; there's never a day where they wake up and don't want to face what the day has in store for them, and Bill is exactly that. The documentary shows that he can barely even hold a conversation with a friend on the street or at a party without-click, click-getting distracted by and running away to- snap, snap-a picture of some beauty that has caught his eye. It's a sign of true passion when you see that he has been riding around New York City on his bike for forty years to capture the evolution of fashion on his old film camera.

I think Bill Cunningham New York is currently On Demand, and I can't express how much I suggest that you watch it. After I bought it, I watched it twice in a span of 24 hours! If any of you have already seen it or watched it after reading this, feel free to comment below!:)

L.A. Street Style

There's something magical about the west coast girls and their incredible ability to look unique and individual, yet without looking like they tried too hard. Living in California myself (west coast represent!!) I know that most girls here have this very effortless way about them that all women should aspire to have.

Vintage Andy Warhol ♥

Before Andy Warhol began creating his famous pop art, he did many lovely shoe ads and magazine covers to make extra cash.

It's a singer! It's a dancer! It's an ice skater! It's-it's-it's Johnny Weir!

On December 11th Johnny Weir added yet another thing to the lost list of things he can do fabulously. Not only now is he an athlete, a designer, the star on his own reality show, a judge on SWTS, and an author...but now, he is also a singer. He debuted his new single "Dirty Love"(available on itunes on January 11th)! Love, love, love it! xoxo, Audrey

About me

I started Dressing Up In Daisies about two years ago for the purpose of unloading all my thoughts, ideas, and obsessions on to internet, rather than keeping them all bottled up in my head. In my first post on DUID ever, my (at the time) thirteen year old self said, “Fashion is about taking risks, and dressing up for yourself, and no one else. Ever since I was two years old, my favorite game to play has been dress up...and it still is. The amazing thing about this game is that you get to play it every single morning, so why not have some fun with it? Wear some massive heels, opt for the leopard coat, throw some daisies in your hair. Whatever your mood is that day.” Ever since I can remember I’ve been fascinated by and obsessed with the world of fashion and all things artistic. I’m not really at all like most kids my age. I spend my days blogging, painting, sketching, taking pictures with old film cameras, and dreaming about my future as a fashion icon strutting around New York City.

Here’s a little bit about me(my description on tumblr): Audrey. 15 years old. Pisces. From San Diegoo. Hippie at heart. Wasting half my time blogging, and the other half at school. Aspiring fashion designer. Full time freak. Soon to be starving artist. ♥ I love: 500 days of summer, fashion, new york city, red nails, good vibes, andy warhol, incense, chanel, men's sweaters, hippies, painting, fur coats, marc jacobs daisy perfume, urban outfitters, the 70's, ziggy stardust, people who dance to the beat of their own drum, rock n' roll music, my canon rebel and my diana f+, steven tyler's sexy ass, the summer of 1969, sublime, my two best friends, woodstock documentaries, lady gaga, saturday mornings, black and white pictures, cold winter days, bike rides in the summertime, combat boots, and tumblr ♥ Dreams: ride a unicorn, go to Parsons for college, create the biggest fashion house in the world, ride a segway, see the aurora borealis, float through space listening to david bowie records, always remain true to myself, live in a shitty apartment and eat top ramen in New York with my best friend Lillian when we turn 18, and not fail my next history test...

I use my blog to connect me to the world of fashion that I know I’ll be a part of one day. And the best part about this is that you guys can be a part of my journey as I chase my dreams of becoming a part of this industry that I feel so passionately about. Feel free to give me feedback in the comment section, hit me up on tumblr, or inbox me because I love hearing from you guys!! xoxo, Audrey
